Act 1

The Doctor finds himself disoriented within a simulated reality, initially dismissing his surroundings as mere illusion and dreams. He physically asserts his denial, claiming the true reality is a computation matrix, but the environment immediately defies him, transforming quarry walls into circuit boards and inducing a mental collapse. Upon waking, a disembodied voice, identifying itself as the Creator, explicitly states its dominion over this world, declaring the Doctor trapped. The Doctor then faces a series of surreal and threatening encounters, including a laughing clown image beneath sand and a biplane that repeatedly buzzes and strafes him, forcing him to flee for his life. Despite his continued attempts to deny the reality of his situation, even when his leg begins to bleed from the biplane attack, the Creator's voice reiterates its control, causing the injury to reappear after a brief disappearance. Faced with undeniable physical consequences within this fabricated world, the Doctor shifts his strategy. He abandons his denial and accepts the terms of engagement, declaring his intent to fight within the Creator's reality. This pivotal decision marks his transition from passive resistance to active confrontation, setting the stage for a direct struggle against his unseen adversary. The Creator, in turn, welcomes this challenge, promising a pleasurable destruction and warning the Doctor to be on his guard, solidifying the adversarial relationship.

Act 2

Following his decision to fight within the Matrix, the Doctor immediately faces a new, tangible threat in the form of a big game hunter, a physical manifestation of his adversary's will. The hunter, armed with a rifle, initiates a direct assault, shooting at the Doctor and forcing him to flee and seek cover. Demonstrating his characteristic resourcefulness, the Doctor evades the hunter, discovers his abandoned backpack, and appropriates a hand grenade and wire, which he ingeniously uses to set a trap for his pursuer. Although the grenade detonates, it fails to eliminate the hunter, who acknowledges the Doctor's clever attempt. Simultaneously, the narrative shifts to the Records Room, where Spandrell and Engin monitor the Doctor's vital signs, discussing the nature of his mental battle and the possibility of another mind within the Matrix. In the Adytum, the cloaked Figure, revealed to be the Master, expresses frustration with the hunter's failure and dispatches Solis, a guard, with specific, overriding orders. Back in the Matrix, the Doctor discovers the hunter has poisoned the local water source, prompting him to fashion a blowpipe from a reed. The Doctor and hunter engage in a direct, tactical confrontation: the Doctor wounds the hunter with a poisoned thorn, while the hunter retaliates by shooting the Doctor in the arm. Both adversaries sustain injuries, escalating the personal stakes of their deadly game. The Doctor's physical condition rapidly deteriorates, while Solis arrives in the Records Room, his suspicious interest in the Matrix controls foreshadowing further external interference.

Act 3

The Doctor, severely wounded and physically deteriorating, struggles through a marshy landscape, his determination to "keep going" battling against his body's imminent collapse. The hunter, confident of the Doctor's impending demise, continues his pursuit. In the Records Room, Spandrell and Engin observe the Doctor's critical state, discussing the profound difficulty of extracting him from the Matrix, which Engin describes as a "mental stronghold" created by his adversary. They recognize the Doctor's slim chance, relying on his ability to conserve artron energy for defense against his opponent's energy expenditure in maintaining the reality projection. During this tense observation, Solis, the guard previously dispatched by the Master, makes a decisive move. He attempts to manipulate the Matrix controls by reaching for a specific knob with a bright purple dot. Spandrell, recognizing the threat of external interference, intervenes forcefully, pushing Solis back. When Solis lunges again for the controls, Spandrell shoots him, eliminating the immediate threat of sabotage to the Doctor's precarious situation. This critical intervention from the "real world" directly impacts the Doctor's fight, preventing a potentially fatal external manipulation. As the Doctor continues his desperate journey through the marsh, the true architect of his torment finally reveals himself. In the Adytum, the cloaked Figure unequivocally identifies himself as the Master, issuing a direct, vehement command for the Doctor's destruction. This climactic revelation solidifies the identity of the primary antagonist and brings the immediate segment of the conflict to a sharp, decisive point, with the Master's explicit order for a final, fatal effort against the Doctor.
