Trap reveals fractures and frenzy

The pair of saplings formed the vertical anchors for the snare trap, bending under wire tension until the trigger twig snapped, then springing upright with violent force to yank the Doctor into the air and hurl Paterson to the ground.

Before: Secured two feet apart with wire lashed taught between them, their trunks bowed under months of gradual pressure.

After: Twisted and recoiled, their upper sections now angled wildly as the wire recoils upward, leaving splintered bark and broken twigs littering the ground below.
