Borg Drone Alcove (Stasis Slots)

A continuous field of human-sized recessed alcoves, or stasis slots, built into the matte, pale bio-mechanical walls of a Borg vessel. Rows of metal alcoves line the interior hull, each slot sized to cradle a humanoid form. Each vertical compartment fits a body like a coffin and is ringed with braided conduits, armrest interfaces, small glowing status nodes, bioluminescent indicators, and wiring ports that mate to shoulder and spine-level circular interfaces. Padded armrests bear inset tactile ports and bio-electric clamps that lock limbs to the ship, while hinged hatches and hardware physically and mentally bind individuals into the Collective. Surfaces glint with oxidized alloy and oozing resin sealant and show condensation, scuffing, and residual stains; a faint hum and the hiss of coolant underscore a living, mechanical stillness. These slots function as containment, life-support, and hardwired neural access points; embedded drones sleep within and, on inspection, briefly withdraw to act before returning. The structure demonstrates a living network rather than inert wreckage, and the away team responds with dread and tactical alarm.
