Tanis Desert

Expansive Egyptian desert terrain around the Tanis dig site, characterized by rolling sand dunes that encircle the Nazi encampment and Indiana Jones's secret excavation, as well as steep slopes, rocky ridges, and deep gullies. The dunes provide cover for night digging and vantage for survey triangulation to the hidden Well of Souls; at dawn eastern dunes can frame a thin column of smoke rising from the pit. The site is dotted with German tents and a map room and features action set-pieces such as Indy charging across the sun-scorched openness on horseback.
