Cottage Lane

A narrow, winding lane hemmed in by compact cottages with slate or whitewashed walls and ivy-choked timber-framed doors. The lane dips slightly before rising to meet a village shop’s front door, flanked by sagging wooden fences weighted with twisted rosebushes or ivy. The Doctor’s footsteps echo softly in the stillness of the deserted village, the only movement the drenched hem of his coat brushing against moss-slick stone.
