Watchman's Stone Hut

A squat, rectangular hut built from rough-hewn stones mortared together, its steep roof sagging under centuries of weather. The single wooden door, reinforced with wrought iron bands, remains ajar as lamplight flickers inside, casting long shadows across the uneven stone floor. A low stone bench hugs the interior wall by the door, serving as the watchman’s makeshift seat during long, tedious watches by the gate. The hut’s position near the driveway exposes it to passing headlights, its rough textures briefly softened by artificial light before darkness swallows it again.
