Cromwell names it the destination for Henry's fabricated trip there—tramping misty forests, bargaining with soot-covered ironmasters over cannons and muskets—a journey projected but never taken. Earlier, it held Mary's exile: Jane exiled her to its cold fields, far from court luxury, where frost bites and obscurity awaits amid isolation.
