Tanis Camp (German-occupied encampment)

Tanis Camp: the German-occupied excavation camp at Tanis clustered near the airstrip — a tense sprawl of canvas tents, barrels, vehicles and packed dirt paths. German soldiers and officers patrol and bark orders while locals (e.g., Sallah) tend kettles and manage gear under close scrutiny. The camp's tents and seams provide both cover and concealment: moments (such as Indy pressing against coarse canvas as officers converse nearby) occur within this same occupied encampment.
