The bottle of wine is the silent accomplice to Ann’s emotional collapse, its emptying a physical manifestation of her internal unraveling. But as she pours the last of it into her glass, the bottle becomes a symbol of her surrender. It is not just alcohol she has consumed, but the last remnants of her self-respect.
